    Hi,

Just wondering if anybody would could give me advice on teh best silicone to use around my PVC window frames and especially where the frame of the window meets the cill? I know there all kinds of cheap stuff out there, but I want to put in the best as we are quite exposed to high winds and driving rain? Any ideas? How much should I expect to pay? Much appreciated.

Tec7 comes pretty highly rated and does stick like poo to the proverbial shovel. I've seen it in clear and white. About 14 quid a tube in chadwicks.

Could what you are talking about be 'TEC 7' or 'CT1' as suggested here also?
I presume that both of these are not a silicone but more of a silicone replacement? They seem to be like a glue of some sort. I'm hoping they will bond better to the sill as the silicone in the past tends to flake and come away very easily which is what I am trying to minimise/eliminate happening.

Sorry for butting in on this thread but I have a related query concerning whether companies installing windows should seal around the perimeter of the windows/doors with silicone or other appropriate product. The guys I got to install my (bloody expensive alu-clad) windows insisted that window installers never seal windows in a new build. They will when replacing windows as they will restore to previous state.

My builder who also installs (PVC) windows was appalled as he said he has never come across an installer who won't seal the windows in new or replacement jobs.

I have to say I am disappointed with the attitude of the installers who demanded 100% up front prior to unloading windows. In addition they didn't have a clading for the bay window and were to return the following week - 6 weeks later no sign. Also their fitters were certaintly not the friendy type and were pretty uncooperative with the builders people - they just didn't want to be there!

I'd like to hear the experiences of others in this matter.

    Thanks
