    Hi all,

My fincée and got engaged in december and are setting the big day for november of this year. I just had a few questions as I have not been able to get in touch with the registry office since I made my appointment for notification to marry. I'll keep it quick!

    - We wont be using a solemniser for a ceremony in a hotel. Do we still have to have the name of a registrar for the notification? If so how do we go about getting this?

    - The Venue Approval Letter is required to be on HSE headed paper. Do I need to request this through thr registry office, the hotel or the HSE directly?

    - And lastly, how flexible is a registrar usually when it comes to the details of the ceremony? I understand it cannot be religious in nature but does it allow for the reading of poems or passages that are non-religious?

Sorry if its a bit Too Long; Didnt Read, but I keep finding contradicting information for each of these questions.

    Hi there,

I'm not sure about your first question but as regards the forms, they were sent to us after we rang the registry office. They also sent on an email which had an 'order of service' thingy. It seems you can add songs/poems once they don't have any religious significance and for the most part they're 2-3 mins max. There's a few opportunities to add these things throughout the ceremony.
Your best bet is to keep ringing! They'll sort everything out for you over the phone.
