I am looking into getting sky.
Now my question is are the deals/packages on the websites the only deals going. i.e if i ring them am i likely to be able to get an improved deal or bargain ;) recession after all :D

Really all I want is the sky sports package, espn at a push.

Don't bother with ESPN not worth the money imo.The deals they have regarding packages are as advertised-You wouldn't go to Tesco and try to haggle over the price of your shopping.
Any deals you hear about regarding price reductions on packages are retention deals for existing customers.I read on another thread that if you sign up through fatcheese you get up to €150 back, have a look on their site.

Also for ex-customers, half price deals for 12 months being offered at the moment if you have all existing equipment still in place.
