    Hi all,

Recently imported a car from UK and have the V5C form. However its missing section 9 which is for a dealer selling to trade. My car was sold from a main dealer to a used car dealer. Will this be an issue when registering?

imported a car myself few weeks back. make sure the dealer or yourself post off the part of the v5c that says the vehicle is being permanently exported back to the dvla.
    i also needed
    ferry ticket
    invoice for purchase
    pps number
    driving license
    utility bill
    v5c
    vaild mot

i got charged 680e instead of 510e from the online calculator. all the fela is doing in the nct centre is emailing revenue in waterford and waits a reply so not really his fault.

    What if hypothetically:
You had car here a few years and
you were now the 3rd irish owner and
Car is still on english plates
            Have v5c but obviously
Don't have ferry ticket or receipt of purchase

              What can you do then?

Are you saying VRT has never been paid on it ?

Simple - they'll want interest and penalties on top of the assessed VRT or the car will be seized - its liable to be seized right now if its not been registered & tax paid anyway.

What interest OP has in doing it?
I got a car from dealer in NI, got V5C together with "permanent export" part. I never bothered sending it to DVLA. I can't see why I should.
              i also needed
              ferry ticket
              What would that be for?
              Nonsense.
I don't think they are allowed to ask about it.
You always could take your car from England with you on your own boat, or by plane...
              invoice for purchase
              pps number
              driving license
              utility bill
              v5c
              That pretty much seems allright.
              vaild mot

Any foreign test cert is not recognised in Ireland.
You have to do NCT straight away after registering.
What is the reason then why they ask for MOT?

The ferry ticket is to corroborate the owner's indication of when he/she bought the car in. If it was outside time limits interest and penalties apply.

If you didn't take the ferry, they'd be asking you for the consignment note/bill of lading for the transport of the vehicle to see when it landed.

In my opinion ferry ticket tells nothing.

You could have bought a car 2 years ago, and keep it in UK for this 2 years. Bring it in only now. That's not indication when car was bought. Besides - you could have owned a car abroad without paying VRT, unless it wasn't imported to Ireland.

Even if you have a ferry ticket issued 3 years ago, that's not the proof that you imported a car then and is liable to penalties.
You could f.e. bought the car then, and lend it to your friend who lives in NI.
Car was yours for last 3 years, but you can always say that you didn't import it to ROI, but it was waiting for you for last 3 years in NI.
