    Hey People!

I'm currently an IT Student in college but always wanted to do something related to Film and Media. Unfortunatly my Leaving Cert points prevented me from doing that and now that my course is in its final year I have been looking over various ways of getting into a College course in the area of Film Production (IADT would be my main choice) by the way of a HETAC certificate.

Unfortunatly most of the details on websites are Scarce on what the exact specifics on somethings are so I though I would turn to old reliable boards to hopefully get some answers to some Questions I have.

    1. If you get the HETAC certificate how do you apply for courses you would like to do in college, is it through the CAO or through some other source?

    2. I was hoping to do the PLC in Ballyfermot, although it says I would require a portfolio. What would the portfolio usually contain and if somebody has done one for a Film course could they give me some advice on what to put into it?

    3. As I said before I would like to do the PLC in Balleyfermot college, can anybody recomend the course from personal experience or recomend any other Film production courses also?

4.Does anybody know how much these courses usually cost?

Sorry if the questions seem a bit vague but ive had a hard time finding answers to these.

    Thanks in advance guys :)

    http://www.filmireland.net/2011/01/11/get-into-film-listings-of-film-courses/

this tells you ever film and media course in ireland you could apply for, very interesting read. This should answer 1 and 3 for you.

For your portfolio, Photography, Short film or documentries you have made, Scripts, Movie reviews, short stories, storyboards. These are a few things you would really need.

I would recommend Marino film and Broadcasting one year course, Its a good course to build up your portfolio. Great tutors and very hands on.
