    Back in the day when the average irish family had 10+ kids, there were no people carriers or 7 seater 4x4's and everyone bundled in just fine.

    I know rules and regulations have changed for the betterment of safety, but is it possible to fit 3 young kids in the back of a standard car, or does baby no. 3 mean daddy has to go shopping for a people carrier :(

    You can get a 3 seat, one piece child seat which will fit into most cars. Much less bulky than 3 seperate seats. Might still be difficult reaching in to middle of a normal car though.
    They come with various attachments that allow a cradle for a new baby to be attached etc.

    BMW 5 series fits my three easily and that includes a booster seat and one of those large seats for an infant.

    Or even 4 seat:

    I find 3 seats (one full size baby seat and 2 high back boosters) just about fit in family saloon cars (Vectra, Avensis, Mondeo, etc.) and fit comfortably in larger family saloon cars (like my BMW 5-series)

    No probs for one full size baby seat and 2 high back boosters in a swift.

    @wmpdd3 -

    where do you have the full size baby seat, is it in the centre?

    What make are the cars seats?

    Also can you actually close the doors???

    @unkel - those conjoined car seats are something to chew on, but expensive all the same, although cheaper than a new car....
