Free flight to these destinations: Recommendations?

Hi all, as I signed up for a certain student bank a/c in September, I get a free return flight to any of these "top ten destinations":

    London
    Edinburgh
    Paris
    Rome
    Amsterdam
    Barcelona
    Milan
    Liverpool
    Stockholm
    Brussels

You can't pick a specific place or date, only your top 3 preferences. I'd be going with a friend, we're students, and will probably put down June/July/August.
Any recommendations for a weekend trip? I think I'll put Barcelona first as I hear it has lots of things to see and do, and my friends have recommended it, but after that I'm not sure!

We'd be looking for somewhere that's got a bit of nightlife/bars, things to see and do during the day,and a place that's quite lively.

    My choice would be:

    Amsterdam
    Barcelona
    Stockholm

    1. Amsterdam
    2. Edinburgh
    3. Barcelona

Rome is cool too. I thought Brussels was sh*t when I was there, boring. Haven't been to Stockholm but I've been in Gothenburg and it was expensive enough so I'd say Stockholm would be similar.

barcelona for sure in top 3, loads of stuff to see and do and great nightlife

rome has loads of stuff to see and do as well but nightlife is almost non-existant in the city centre

edinburgh is a nice town, amsterdam hasn't that much to see in truth but its not a bad weekend destination, brussels very businesscentric town, london is grand if you haven't been before, paris is paris, milan is under-rated, not a bad choice for a weekend break seeing as you can go to nearby lake como on the train

if it was up to me barcelona, rome and edinburgh in that order

Yes Barcelona should be on the list.

Some of these other destinations are more suited to older travellers or people with more money than students so rule out Rome and Stockholm.

Amsterdam is cool for students, but try not to base yourself in the red light district, other parts of the city are more fun.

Brussels i would put next for the fact its an hour on the train from Bruges. Bruges is fun for a night, not too much to do apart from te infamous bell tower where you will see people panting as colin farrell did. They have over 1100 different types of beer to sample in the town and some cheap hostels, could be fun for a group of students!

A word on Barcelona - watch out for pick-pockets and other scams. Nearly everyone (including myself) has a tale to tell about it. Otherwise, a great city!

+1, be careful there, been to most others on your list and Barca was deffo the worst on petty crime, centre of city is rife with it

    Stockholm
    Barcelona
    Paris

While in Stockholm, take the ferry to Turku, the European capital of Culture this year. Should be lots of special events taking place all year but especially in the summer.

Cheers guys, yeah as a student I'm pretty low on funds so that's why I'd be looking to take advantage of the free flights and head somewhere a bit more exotic than England or Scotland, and get my possible only chance of sunshine for the summer!
Actually, as part of the offer, you can apply for an extra flight seat for a friend for 99e plus taxes and charges. That seems quite steep to me, would you agree? I was thinking of just trying to book an extra seat myself, as it would probably work out cheaper than 99+. We'd probably end up on different flights, but sure!
