I submitted a Form 11 return online last year which had a very small tax liabilty. I paid the liability in full but when I was drafting 2010 accounts I noticed an error was made in the capital account in 2009 accounts. Are you allowed make an amendment to the filed Form 11 to correct the error?? Will there be any penalties??

    Thanks for any advice given!

    You can "self-correct" a 2009 F11 at any time up to 31/10/2011.

No penalty applies, but you may have to pay interest on the tax.

If it was simply an admin error in that you entered the capital account figure incorrectly, simply write to them advising the correct figure and asking for an amended assessment. there should be no issue.
