Get out a phone book and ring every broker and insurance company you can. It's a bit of a pain, but if it means you're going to save a few hundred quid it's definitely worth it.

Online quoting systems are terrible for high risk young drivers, I fall into that category, and I saved 600 Euro last year by simply ringing around to a few brokers and getting the best deal.

So in short, my experience is that you will save a tonne by ringing around. Online quotes are usually not as good.

i live in donegal btw so i think the garda would have something better to do than to stop me because i have a provisional licence lol oh yeah i need the car to get to college because i live in the arse end of nowhere

My friend was telling me that Aviva do a deal that if you do 10 lessons with them which is €420 i think and you get 6 months free car insurance. And when you finish the lesson you get 50% off car insurance.

Might what to check the details yourself on their website to make sure but I think it's something like that.

is it your car? or somebody elses, 1.9 will be quite expensive if its your car and you might want to looking into getting something smaller. also it will be cheaper if the car is not registered to you and your a named driver on another persons policy, try quinn

i baught the car off my friends freind who was selling it realy cheap (€1500)
for some reason, and i was going to re sell it making a profit but when i quoted it on quinn it was around 3800 ...i thaught that was super ass rape and quoted a crappy 1.0 corsa and it was only a couple of hundred cheaper so i thaught i would keep the bora

is it so expensive everywhere else in the country or is it just because donegal is full of nut jobs

i managed to get insured on a citroen saxo at 21 on a provisional with quinn for 1200, but that was not an online quote, got that through a broker, who in turn were under written by quinn. Got full licence a year later and insurance went down by over 400e. You're better off passing your test op asap as you will save huge money on your insurance.

I had no idea it affected it that much until I was told my monthly payments would go down by more than half. Not to mention the fact your knees won't be shaking coming up to a garda checkpoint.

Will no nonsense quote you. I got a quote off britton today for a 530d BMW for around 3500 and I'm nearly 30. Same details into nononsense and the quote was less than 700. I laughed when I was Brittons quote.

Still not the highest quote I've ever gotten. When I was 18 I got a quote for a 1.4 Renault 19 for £8747.47. When the girl read it out I thought she was giving me her phone number.

easiest answer is to get rid of the bora and get a much smaller car.

im doing that deal, cost me 400,never heard of that 50% off tho,i hope to god its true!!

saying that my insurace is up a week today :( and my driving test the day before :/

    2550 for a 17yo on a learner permit is VERY good,when i was pricing around a few months ago i was quoted 6000 on a 1 litre 12v 1987 toyota starlet.........

Go online to several brokers. Phone several brokers. You probaly could get a cheaper quote then that. Half an hours work could save you a lot of money.

On a 1.4 litre last year I got quoted just under 2K by Asgard Insurance through quoteme.ie. I too was on a provisional and when I passed my test in october, I only got 100 back :(

But still was way better than the 3.5K everywhere else was offering!

A word of warning. Aviva give free insurance for 6 months only if you are getting insured under a parents policy with them. Also if you drive un-accompanied it voids the insurance .

    I have a crappy 1.0 corsa... sniff...

No nonsense and 123.ie Give them a whirl. And with every plae you call tell em that somewhere else quoted you cheaper. They might just drop the price.

That said, your insurance is gonna be MASSIVE regardless.
