How can I make a DVD?

I'm looking to make a DVD from some .avi files I have, that will be readable on a regular DVD player.
Basically throw them all on the disc, stick up a basic Menu screen with a choice to play one of the 6 or 7 videos and then thats it.

Can anyone recommend me some software.

    I'm on Windows 7.

    Thanks.

I use Windows DVD Maker if I'm looking to put in menus, otherwise it's basic drag+burn

Ah, its changed its name in Windows 7!
Last time I used it, it was called Windows Movie Maker. Just did a search for "movie" and it didnt show up so thought Microsoft had abandoned it!

    Actually, thats fairly useless.
For some reason it only deals in minutes. I have a 4.7GB/120 mins DVD, and the videos take up about 2.7GB, but are over 2 hours, so it wont let me burn them.

Is there a way I can burn them as files on the disc, then have the DVD menu over them?

    Google "DVD Flick"
