Sell Ireland to USA?

I think it poses quite a viable economic solution for, well, all of the countries problems; commercial and domestic. Assuming a positive outcome of a referendum, Ireland is sold to the United States.

The nation is automatically incorporated as the 52nd U.S. State or an unincorporated territory of the United States. Following this, Obama's new patch of land receives funding for infrastructure, health (not free obviously, but it wasn't that great anyway) and education.

There is enough money for the bank bailout and to stimulate rapid job growth. Irish people are now American citizens allowing them to travel freely between the former republic and the US be it for work or holiday.

With 100 in the Senate, 435 in the House of Representatives and thousands in the State upper and lower houses there is a huge choice of leadership.
The governor (head of state) is elected by the people and the traditional 26 counties are retained each with their own legislative body. Towns and Cities would fall under a municipal legislature with their own police department. This obviously is just a fraction of what would change, but what do you think?
