well the hounds werent hunting yesterday so i decided to take the terrier to walk some permission that i hadnt been on since october.
the first hole is a field away from the farmers yard, its a big enough earth with maybe 8 entrances. its been good to us over the yrs and we usually get a dig or bolt from it at least once a yr.
the russell took a line straight to the hole and went below. he was in and out and all over the place, this terrier hasnt done owt really and is still learning his trade so he cant be trusted yet, but my springer was marking the hole strongly, sticking his head down holes and wagging his tail. when he does that fox is home.
i stood back and kept encouraging the young terrier as he dived in and out and searched the earth, fox was giving him the run around. then up she popped out of a hole in a bush, she dropped when she seen me and i gave her 2 barrells.
a vixen, gave the dogs a good rag and it was the russells first time to rag a fox so he deserved it.
wish i'd taken the camera for bob's first fox.

lots of terriers getting stolen these days, pure scum that would steal a mans terrier.
yeah im very pleased with him, hopefully i'll get a dig to him before the seasons end, he's only 15 months. not too many russells still doing the business underground at foxes so i hope he makes the grade.

Whereabouts in the country your from? up North the patterdale is used alot or lake-land crosses, i came across very few Russells working, only the parsons where the ones i seen over the years being worked. Utter scum stealing a dog, ive had a few over the years stolen but i usually found out who had them and got them returned swiftly;) but yes just scumbags
