6 hours, 40 laps, 140km, 1 tank of petrol...4 warped brake disks, 8 melted brake pads, 1 litre of boiled brake fluid, 3.5 litres of boiled oil and 4 scrubbed to death tyres...but you know what? It's so worth it just for the smile that stays with you all day! :D

    Ahh motors...:pac:

Cut costs, get the disks skimmed if they are not that bad. Any pictures of the day, much of a turn out/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,727 ✭✭✭Midnight_EG

    They're bent...no way am I skimming them?

Around 70 people including spectators I reckon...maybe more!

Brilliant day for it too :D

Was out there myself today, the car held up well, brakes are all fine and I had track tyres on so back to road tyres tomorrow. Cracking day for it and little Midnight did well too

How did you manage to do so much damage? What pads and disks you running?

The worst that has happened me on a trackday is the paint on my Calipers boiled off.

Standard discs...the original ones...and OEM pads which were hardly going to last long anyway!

I was going fairly balls out for my own abilities to be fair...and I needed a brake setup anyways! :D

Ah i see now, friend of mine had his pads seize to the disk after braking off the backing. Standard motorfactor ones dont stack up. I see Japserviceparts.com do Hamp ones. I had Vttr Grandsport on mine, did 2 trackdays and a years driving before i had to change them.

Fair play, you dont know your car till you do a trackday. Its amazing how much you learn about how it handles.

I'm very very surprised at how well she handles the redline in 2nd coming around a corner :D :P

I'm thinking of getting Kev (32Tuning) to bring me in some PasswordJDM Track performance front and back disks :D

Depends if it's a private or a public trackday...todays one was private.

What car do you own? And yes, you can use any car.

I`d advise doing a few before organising one, you would be surprised how hard it is to tie 20-25 people down to one date! Check the Mondello website for the next public track day.

I will check that out, thanks.would be nice to drive it hard again

I promise I'll wash my car before the next track day. Pic with thanks to Anto at http://www.d4dphotos.com

We were advised at the start of the day to block our own reg plates, turns out insurance companies are getting arsey about claims against cars that have been used on track. I'm telling ya it's getting harder and harder to have fun in this country. No wonder people are emigrating in their thousands

I've cleared this with the mods:

I helped this guy out with his website a while ago: www.trackday.ie - he organises track days in Mondello (and might expand to other tracks as well).

I don't gain anything by plugging his site at all - just thought it might be of use to people looking to go along to an organised track day.
