Android Market on Xperia X8

    Just seeing if anyone can help. Bought an Xperia X8 from 02 in Limerick. All of a sudden i am getting the below error when i try to access the android market. If i hit retry i get the same error. If i hit cancel i just get moved back to the home screen.

    A network error has occurred. Retry, or
    cancel..."

    Phone has been upgraded to run version 2.1 from 1.6. Androis market was working after i installed 2.1.

    Normal internet browser is working. I contacted O2 who told me that if the internet is working then it is not there issue and i should contact Sony Erricsson. I contacted them who said the issue is also not theres and i would need to contact google. So far cannot find a contact for google.

    Anyone else have a similar issue and have been able to resolve? Searching the web is not providing any solutions but others seem to have similar issues.

    Go into settings / applications / manage applications.
    Find the Market app, select it and "Clear Cache".

    See if that helps.

    You didn't say if it was over your mobile connection or over wifi.... do you have the same problem on both?

    Its over mobile connection. Don't have facilities to connect phone to WIFI currently.

    Android Market worked previously for me on both version 1.6 and 2.1 and then just started receiving that error. Very frustrating. From searching online lots of others are having the same error across a range of handsets but I have yet to find a post that provides a solution.

    hello, new user to boards so please forgive any errors.
    I am also having market error msg as above and cannot find any soloution anywhere and would appreciate it if you could let me know if you resolve the issue on your phone. I am planning on returning to where phone was bought (as christmas present) on saturday but i dont have a reciept:( i hope they will still help me out. ill post back with any info if i dont hear from you first. thanks in advance and good luck!!!

    Try this, go to settings/applications/manage/market and press uninstall updates

    Launch the market then as normal and it should re apply the update, worked for me.

    I did get this randomly a few times and it usually sorted itself if I waited a few hours but when I did as I outline above it was because it was persistent over a few days.

    calex71, ty for response. i have tried this to no avail, i have no wifi access in my area but will try going that route before i hop it off the wall :D, i have also tried turning it off for 5 mins and a few other suggestions from searching on line but i just dont know what happened. thanks again, delighted u have some use of urs

    I HAVE FIXED MY PHONE !!!!! :D:D I connected to my lap top and started the pc companion, then backed up ONLY my contacts list and copied my photos/videos then i followed the upgrade information....it took about an hour in total to do but was very easy. turned on my phone, restored my contacts and was prompted to create a g mail account on trying to access market (already had one but created a new one anyway) and, touch wood, its working like a dream!!!!
