    Hi there,

About two years ago when I was working full time I had to have an extraction of a molar. I had an awful time after it as it shattered below the gum on the way out and I developed a severe infection of the jaw bone I had to go on several courses of anti-biotics and they put me on a drug of the morphine family ( cannot remember the generic name) . The molar behind it is in bad shape for the past few months. This morning I am having severe pain at that tooth site. Took two nurofen plus an hour ago and it has not done anything for the pain. I am only working a couple of days a month due to cutbacks and am very worried about dentist fees and am also worried that there will be a repeat of last time when I paid close to a thousand euros on doctors, dentist fees and medication after the procedure. Can anyone tell me roughly how much a dentist visit is at the moment? I don't want to book an appointment unless I've an idea if I can pay it... I'll have to do something as I'm in alot of discomfort :(

    Thanks in advance!

If you have a medical card or have paid sufficient prsi contributions (most dental practices will check this for you if you give them your pps number {you can always ring and check yourself}) the examination will be free.
In the area I work private patients pay approximately €40

Thanks for that, I haven't yet recieved a medical card, but I would have paid prsi so hopefully that will cover it. Have appointment today anyway. Thanks for your help
