Neighbour has a kitchen sink tap. You know the classic mono spout and hot and cold knobs

Its develped an unusal problem that its leaking from the spout.

Where the spout heats the body

Any one heard of this. I know the taps come in 2 parts but i think i will need to dicsonnect the tap to take it apart.

    Thanks

Depending on the tap there is either a collar you can unscrew where they both meet and pull it apart to reveal a couple of O rings, or you have the type that is held in place with a small grub screw in the back of it, usually a dumpy screw driver or a allan key is required, again its O rings.

See number 7 in this diagram........... http://www.showerdoc.com/shower-spares/kitchen-taps/deva/DEVA-PARENT-162-Deva-Acrylic-Handle-Mono-Sink-Mixer

    Hope that helps.

Bang on billy. Thank you. I have never noticed that screw in all the times i was selling those taps. Amazing.

I now need to buy the o ring kit. Its not for that one its for the deck mounted one with the 2 seperate hand knobs.

    Thanks again.

If you have trouble getting an o ring I find a good few wraps of ptfe around the broken washer while it is in position does the same job with zero hassle.

it needs to be an o ring imo and grease it, the ptfe tape wont hold for that long once the spout is moved back and forward often

also theres another way to take some spouts off, if the spot is facing u at 6 o clock, turn it around to normally 9 or 10 o clock and pull up, or try 2-3 o clock and pull up

I am going to try car accessories for the o ring. 6.07 o ring. Should be a laugh.

You could not wrap it in PTFE its cowboy

but what you can do is seat the existing o ring in PTFE if i cannot get one.

    However i should get one.

This is the first time i have seen this leak

pretty common leak I've 3 boxes of assorted o rings all different sizes and thicknesses, you need exactly the same o ring or it will be too tight around the spout and its difficult to find them hence the boxes :-) take the o ring off and bring it with you or get a box and you'll maybe use them some day :)

Yeah i am looking at getting a box. The wife thinks i am mad. She reckons let the neighbour get the box but its as much a curiosity thing for me as well.

I have been on to bristan and deva in the uk trying to get spares. They not use to paddies... I just want to send me a few different ones...

Not possible need tap model
