Hi, I have lost mine in a pile o paperwork or I accidentally threw it in the bin. Do I really need it or can they replace it?

If you had one, then you're registered, so nobody is going to come knocking for you to prove you bought one.

Don't worry about it - I paid for the tv license online in 2009 and never received the piece of paper, only got the email acknowledgement of receipt of payment. As soon as the license expired there was a letter received through the post demanding renewal. The whole system is automated.
