 Just about to open a demo account on spread betting. I've read a few books and want to tread carefully . Was going to use paddypower but see in the Sunday times that they are 'reviewing' their spread operation.
Anyone able to suggest a good spread firm for a novice ?

If your iphone savvy and want to trade on the trot..(god that sounds like a marketing line) try IG index. I'm with TD waterhouse myself great platform but no iphone ability.

I don't even own an iphone tho :P

as a complete novice Id recommend either alpari uk (mainly for FX),they use the MT4 platform which I like, its also a very generic standard platform, or marketspreads.ie, not over pushed pushed on their platform, its not bad though, but I think theyve a great service, and their seminar was top quality , much much better than I expected.

The reason Id go with them 2 is that if you are a complete novice you can trade tiny amounts with them.Alpari allows you go make tiny trades (approx 10c/pip), marketspreads allow a 20c/pip tradesize.

They both also allow very low min deposits

Im only in the learning process myself though so maybe someone else might have better advice.

edit: just read your 'iphone is a must' statement , oops, dunno if any of that will help so.
