Hi, i'm new to Boards.ie only for to get help on this, (sorry if ive posted this in the wrong thread)

i'll just get onto it now without chatting on and on..

is it possible to do the Leaving cert without doing the Junior cert in college??

i left school at 15 and i'm 19 now,, ive never had a job before or never done any volunteer work, when i left school
I did homeschooling for abit but that was abit of a waste of time and then i went to Youthreach for abit and then i dropped out of that cos of the people,
I feel like a failure to my parent's and myself that i left school so early at 15 without any junior cert and never had a job..

I really want to change myself around and actually do something with myself but I have absolutely no idea where to start. I want to do my leaving cert and go to college (If) I can because of my bad school history.. and then get out of Ireland and move to Germany

Yes it is possible to do the Leaving Cert. without the Junior Cert..
It is also possible to go to college without the Leaving Cert. or Junior Cert..

Talk to your local VEC Adult Education Officer. They are there for what the powers that be like to call 'second chance' education.

It's possible that they might advise you to do a few subjects at JC first, to build your confidence and get you into the swing of things, then follow it up with a Leaving.

If you are anywhere near Pearse College in Crumlin, contact them - they are the Dublin specialists in this.

Don't forget the FETAC route into university. Nobody in university will care about your school history.

Also dont forget that if you want to go to college you can do a plc first. You could also do a level 6 or 7 diploma in college.
    Good luck with everything!:)
