Wet room construction

Only a few weeks left in my cottage renovation. I am turning the one bathroom (downstairs) into a wet room.

I've UFH, 2 of the walls are external (solid block) and 2 are internal stud partitions newly constructed. Bathroom will be tiled throughout.

Plasterer is doing his thing at the moment. Half the floor is poured with the shower area still to be poured.

What should I do to water-proof the room? The plumber has mentioned getting someone to put fibreglass down but mentioned that it is quite expensive. I found a 5m2 tanking kit for under €300 and am considering this.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi, i do a lot of wetrooms and would recommend <name removed> to tank your room. The most I ever paid for tanking kit is €100 so €300 sounds very expensive. <link removed>. can get it in <name removed>. sprinkle sand on it when applying so tiles can grip!! good luck

BIMP, the above post should have been PM'd to the OP, it's done now but please don't put names or links on-thread it is against the charter.

Having seen rooms being tanked with fibre glass on projects I worked on, I feel that this is the best solution, but not necessarily the cheapest.
However, tanking a wetroom, especially if it's not on ground floor (I know the OP situation is on GF) is a critical area to get 100% right.
There are Fibre glass tanking kits you can buy - resin and sheets of the fibre, which are fairly straightforward to DIY.
However, a different form of tile adhesive is needed for this form of tanking.

Bimp, I also would appreciate the details for Tanking a Shower as I'm hoping to do ours shortly. It's also on the Ground Floor. Thanks, Sky6
