Question about the Ceann Comhairle

Just a quick if somewhat pointless question about the Ceann Comhairle.

Can he (or she) represent a 3,4 or 5 seater or do they have to be from a 4 or 5 seater considering that if they were from a 3 seater then the voters in that constituency would in reality elect 2 people to the Dáil and only have 2 active members in the Dáil.

I presume they can be from any constituency but just wondering.

Presumably they still have to represent their constituency dont they?

Especially since they get a pass at the election.

Any constituency. That constituency is effectively one seat down in the next election, but returns the outgoing CC as well.

(On The Week in Politics just now, Olivia Mitchell was mentioned as a possible. Makes some electoral sense, FG could retain 2 of 4 easier than 3 of 5.)

Sure John O'Donoghue was there and he was Kerry south.

Some say that stunt was a Fianna Failure stunt to get rid of the Healy Raes.
