lately my life hasn't worked out well and as a result i turn to video games and watching movies\waisting time and i am just sick of it. i was a smart hard working kid but later on in life i worked hard at a few projects put they didn't work out, one in particular was a terrible failure and ever since then i let myself go, stopped exercising. still do a bit but not as much as i used to.
in 2011 all i have done is play computers games and watch **** on TV. i want to get back working and studying again but just find it so hard i am in my mid 20s now but find it so hard probably because of my previous failures.
i decided today to get my act together deleted all my video games and movies from my computer. next i plan on getting rid of my Internet. i used to use the Internet for studying and research. but now its just porn and troll comics. anybody ever successfully give up tv/games/waisting time.
i really want to do something useful with my life but just find myself sitting in front of a tv. i tried several times this week to luck over one of my old engineering books but after 10 minutes i give up and play some Team Fortress 2. then i fell bad about myself and do it all over again. its a vicious cycle.

Give yourself stuff to do, away from the house, so that you can't be distracted all the time by the temptations of internet and tv. Disconnecting your internet is a good move, and if you could do the same with the tv you'd be doing very well (you didn't mention your living situation, but I assume there's other people living with you that won't take that too well?). Give yourself goals and objectives, and strive to meet them. Everyone has the capacity for change, you just need to snap yourself out of your current rut.

    Good luck.

Well as I see it one has two choices, either to play games all day and get nothing done or to work to achieve a specific end. In fact the two can be combined, one works to cover x amount of stuff according to a realistic timeframe and then play video games unashamed for hours on end and its ok because the work is done. I dunno if you're employed or not, it helps to be employed in something you enjoy or see a point in, if anything because it spurs you on to spend time on hobbies in a more focused way. Its the momentum/flow of an occupation and the social connections therein which has value.

Failure isn't necessarily a bad thing, much can be learned from failed projects. The key is to take that knowledge and keep trying, because eventually one of those projects will succeed and the feeling of success in a personal project is something which doesn't dissapear over time. Its like recording a song or doing a painting, the fruits of labour are there to see from then on and one can say " I did that." I think the significant thing is not to let failure or fear of failure, which may be why you're procrastinating, bother you.

Do you have the money to emigrate or travel?

Getting out of your comfort zone is a great way to restart your life.
