6 Month Braces

    Hi, I'm due to get 6 month braces on Wednesday. I'm just wondering, has anyone got these braces and how did your teeth look afterwards? They seem too cheap and good to be true. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Andrew

    6 month braces are no different to any other kind of traintrack brace or "fixed appliance". They are just left on your teeth for 6 months (obviously). They will straighten your teeth if they have mild crowding but will not do much more than that.

    You might just want a few teeth straightened but if you are going invest in orthodontic treatment you might as well get the best job done that is possible. If you have a small problem that it may take just 6 months and any orthodontist or dentist with an interest in orthodontics can do the job. However, it is probably not an orthodontist providing this and the only way you can get all the different orthodontic options is to see an orthodontist who specialises in braces. Nobody can say without examining you, what your teeth are likely to look like after 6 months.

    Interestingly, the cost of short term or limited objective orthodontics is usually less with a specialist than and non-specialist who is offering 6 month braces. Look up www.orthodontics.ie

    hi andrewh just wondering if you got the 6 month treatment and how it went? am seriously considering going for a consultation on these braces but am a chicken when it comes to dentists
