But can never be shot at night under a lamp, and as far as I recall are to be shot with a shotgun only.

Yes, few times. Quick re-cap. Someone says they must be shot with shotgun, someone else says rifle is ok, blah blah, ask for links, cant find links blah blah. I am of the opinion they cant be shot with rifle.

The rules are not clear wheather shotgun or rifle. Why do you want to shoot one i dont think they harm crops or anything like that.

You have obviously not seen the damage they can do to young trees, front teeth like a pair of secateurs, will nip the top off many trees in a short time

i dont, and didn say i did . Have never shot one and have no interest in hunting them as they are not a problem. And maybe some people shoot them to eat them? Again somethin iv no interest in but each to their own.

i have permission to shoot deer on land where the npws gave the landowner an exemption to shoot the hares on his property, the damage they have caused to young plantation is severe

I assume this was in writing?

Did it specify any restriction eg no rifle?

from what i have been told they are not very nice to eat.

we have a good few around here, but i have no interest in shooting them, love to watch them in the fields, very noble animal imo
