Software for sorting big batchs

Today I took over 500 pics at Mondello.

    Yesterday I took 600.

I mix it up with RAW and Jpeg . I use Raw if the light starts getting bad. So I need somthing that can handle raw files.

At the moment I download via PS Bridge and double click the ones I like to open in CS5.

I find it very time consuming .

Is there a handy way to do a quick adjust and resize of pics and then place them in a sorted folder?

Next question. Best site for sharing 100s of pics

You can open more than one RAW in Photoshop, select them all and apply the same adjustment/resize to all of them and then batch save them with the naming scheme of your choice. Regarding JPEGs you can create an action in Photoshop to churn through those.

Sounds like you should have a look at Adobe Lightroom, batch processes any number of images, puts them in collections and sets. Very powerful and uses the same engine I think as Photoshop for opening RAW files. I think there's a time limited free evaluation version downloadable from the Adobe site. Well worth a look and less expensive than photoshop.

i have been toying with Picasa. But it does something strange with the colors when uploaded to their web album. They all look washed out.

I have another issue with the picture viewer in picasso as well. I cant transfer the selected photo to photoshop like I can with a right click menu on the windows viewer. Little things like that do my head in .

That's probably a colour profile discrepency - I'd say the photos are being exported as ProPhoto RGB and converted to standard RGB on the server- it's happened to me before. I would poke around and see if you can select the colour profile to use :)

Going to give lightroom a bash. Im guessing if I can use photoshop and layers then Lightroom should be easy to get my head around.

does bridge take a year to load pics with you. Then another year to load photoshop after you double click a pic?

if you already have photoshop use it, it's hugely powerful.

From memory it's the option beside Image Processor in the Edit menu, from there you can choose the size in pixels and jpg compression

and yes, lightroom is more intuative but photoshop can do it just as well
