He died at the end. So probably not.

I hope not, and I doubt we will. There is no need for a second film at all.

Besides, Black Swan is the "unoffical-offical" follow-up

It can be about a different wrestler. Maybe a more famous wrestler on how it came came too house hold name and what been famous has done too there career

But Randy was a famous wrestler, he had his own video game and everyone knew who he was. He was, in Aronofskys world, Hulk Hogan.

Saying he was the Hulk Hogan of that world is a bit OTT. He was closer to being an Ultimate Warrior type who had fame for a short period and never really found anything to replace his heyday. That is the tragedy of the film, he stills lives as if it is the 80s (listening to the same music, trying to look the same etc).

Great film, doubt we will ever see another wrestling film like it again. Aronofsky is obviously not going to do one and he is an extremely rare director who will show wrestling in a somewhat realistic manner.

And we don't know that he dies at the end!

Mate, your spelling/grammar is poor. Please consider re-reading your posts before hitting submit! Generally I wouldn't notice but it's a new thread, and I had to go over your post a few times to decipher it correctly. :o

That said, I doubt a sequel or another story would have as much pathos or impact. Maybe a biopic about Mick Foley, that wasn't done by the WWE, would be great. (I chose Mick Foley as I know he's trying to get a biographical film made)

    DO NOT TOUCH THE WRESTLER

It was perfect and should be left alone

Hardly a major spoiler 3 years after its release now in all fairness.

Plus it isn't exactly an accurate spoiler!

Although, if you don't want to know about The Wrestler, why click into a thread wondering if there will be The Wrestler 2?

Nudity from either Marisa Tomei or Evan Rachel Wood would justify a follow up.:o:eek:

A captivating look inside the current WWE Divas locker room would keep me happy :pac:

I don't think we'll see a "The Wrestler 2". I think the story was told in a classy way, and any further delving will just tarnish a great (if very sad) story.

But saying that; i do hope it opens up the gates for more "WRESTLING" movies. Ones that now have a bench mark & to compete, will have to present wrestling for what it actually is & not the general media & public opinion.

So in short : a follow up to the Wrestler, i doubt it. But more realistic & serious wrestling movies, hopefully.

There is plenty of opportunity for other wrestling films as it's such a crazy and unique industry, but I wouldn't want any other wrestling movie being associated with 'The Wrestler'. This is a classic movie, one of a kind, I wouldn't want to risk a sequel taking the gloss off of this film.

I'm sure other wrestling films will be made in the future. This film was about a veteran nearing the end of his career, so they can do something the other end of the spectrum such as about an indy guy working his way up the ranks to the big time, but just don't link it to The Wrestler.

How about a spinoff called 'The Diva', or 'The Ring Announcer'. Rob Schneider could play either.

id rather see a sequel of Suburban Commando

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,205 ✭✭✭Ridley

The first movie doesn't allow for a sequel.

So it could be like Highlander II: Die Higherlander and Randy the Ram's, like, a space wrestler who fled a planet of MMA fighters.

I would like to see Colm Meaney play Jake Roberts in a film.

A sequel would be like Rocky II. Believe it or not, the first film in that series was pretty decent.

A story based on Shawn Michaels would be an excellent film.

From rookie kid in the late 80's, to the ego-maniac partying and drug addiction of the 90's, to the Born Again Christian with a loving family in the 2000's.

    Could be a great movie.
