    Hi

I'm looking to find out what South American Country offers the best value for money experience. I've been looking into heading to Argentina for a while but if there were other parts of SA that offered a 'similar' experience for less cash I'd obviously be interested in looking into them further.

    Have you any recommendations?

I would definitely recommend Argentina...excellent value for money. Brazil is very expensive. Bolivia & Peru are cheap also but they would be a completly different experience to Argentina/Brazil. What type of place are you looking to go to OP?

Yeah I would strongly recommend Argentina. Lovely country, lovely people and great value. And they love the Irish. Everywhere we went they gave us discounts when they figured out we were Irish! Whatever you do dont miss Iguassu Falls on Brazilian border. Worth the trip there and big highlight.
Felt very uncomfortable in Brazil from the minute we got off the plane. Our cases had been opened and robbed by airport staff, pick pockets and child beggers everywehere in Rio. Costs were similar to Ireland. on the last day one of our party was aggressively mugged in broad daylight with a knife on Copacobana beach. Then had to deal with the very corrupt tourist police. Beautiful city, dont get me wrong- views from Christ the Redeemer were amazing but did leave the country with a bad taste in the mouth.

I have been to Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru and Chile. Spent about 6 weeks in Argentina - had a great time but I would jump at the chance to go back to Peru for the following reasons:

History - Incan ruins, Macchu Picchu, Nazca Lines etc
Desert - Huacachina is a cool place to spend a few days - its an oasic outside of Ica. Go dunebuggying and sandboarding down huge dunes!
Amazon jungle - visit Iquitos, but head up river pretty quickly - I would recommend a group like Explorama.
Lake Titicaca - spend a day on Isla Del Sol.

Its cheap enough, has loads of history, adventure, good food - I frickin love the place.

Hope this helps - send on any questions on Peru or any of the other countries if ya want!
