What exactly would it take for this 17.5% of people not to vote for them? After what they've done to the country, I'm bewildered but not surprised. Shame on them, lemmings.:(

You thought that lot were bad, you've seen nothing yet.

A prediction, similar to all the parties at the previous election who talked about growth and prosperity, I do not claim to be pschic like all politicians did back in 2007 whether FF, FG, Labour, SF, Green, Socialist....who were making predictions about growth for the next 5 years back in 2007.

People wanted change, they won't see it in their pockets.

We don't need to see it in our pockets, as long as we don't see it in other's pockets either!

Just like 1916 all over, the Dubs rose up and the rest of the country was found wanting.

Most of their seats are in rural areas and there obviously dont watch the news very often

Its actually enough to make you despair about life itself, that people would still put FF #1 on a ballot. FF are a disease like catholicism.

There is no accounting for party tribalism which comes with convenient blindness, stupidity and arrogance to say to the nation "well feck ye all!"

    1) Most people vote for hard working local candidates - look at the outcry when constituency boundaries are changed and they dont know the candidates.

    2) There is a certain loyalty factor - someone being a "nice fella" is very important. There are some utter ****s running for more popular parties like FG.

    3) People don't want to see the party dissappear entirely.

I thought I would answer the question even though I am sure the OP didn't want an answer.

PS. A look at the transfers when counting votes would give you a more realistic view of how many shades of grey there are in peoples voting preferences - Socialist transferring to Fine Gael to Fianna Fail to Sinn Fein etc etc etc. You see any and every combination.

My experience of rural areas is that they always have the news on which is accompanied by many cups of tea.

    it's called democracy.
    Vote for whoever you want.

I don't understand why SF got so many votes but I don't get to pass judgement on other people's choice.

I know people who voted for then because they want to stop SF becoming the main opposition party.

I know it's democracy but it astonishes me. Show's how fixed in stone some people's mindset is.

For the record I voted Fianna Fail, 12 and 13th I think:)

Not everyone will share your opinion. It can be hard to get to grips with and not everyone's a big fan but it's called democracy. Get over it.

Let's just hope that the people get what they voted for...and plenty of it.
