The election is over. We're going to have a coalition with FG and Labour. Have we achieved anything?

I can't help but feel that we're doomed for more of the same unfortunately. I can't help but feel that the people of Ireland have done themselves in yet again. We need change, we need someone to fucking lead us. We have Enda Kenny.

What are we going to do?

I am delighted that FF have been thrashed so much in this election.

What I am dreading though now is looking at Enda Kenny for the 4/5 years, he reminds me of Daniel O'Donnell & worse talks like him too. (Is that just me who thinks that I wonder ).

Now that its over I would prefer a FG/Independents government. Labour as opposition. I would prefer this for two reasons to give FF a proper bollocking. Also the new government will have to make a lot of hard decisions which some people will not be happy about. By keeping Labour in opposition we have a party to fall back on when/if FG 'cock up' with the mess that FF has created.

Now that FF have got the thrashing they deserved, I feel a little scared. The number of TDs with senior government experience has fallen sharply. And FF had one or two strong players who are either gone (Hanafin) or recovering from a gruelling campaign (B Lenihan). I guess it's up to FG & Lab to show us what they're made of...

They are some very strong TD's in FG & Labour. Some of them served in the last FG/Labour government. And there is a really strong back up to the two parties.
And what I think is brilliant is the amount of new TD's coming in who are going to learn so much about running a country through tough times. We might have some of these guys for 30 years starting with this government, great experience.

I feel like politics can stop being brought up in after hours every hour :D.

I had hoped Fine Gael wouldn't need Labour in government, I would have much preferred to see them as the main opposition party as this could truly have consigned Fianna Fail to the political wasteland, instead I expect Fianna Fail to experience a massive boost come next election when the Irish people with their short memories go running back to them.

    .... not really.

Glad Fianna Fail are out (and in spectacular fashion). All we're gonna have now is 10 years of bickering between the left and the right before they're eventually turfed out 2 elections from now. Better buy those plane tickets now I suppose.

I'd like to see a FG/FF government with a Lab/SF opposition. A FG/Lab government will be way too strong and leave no opposition.

Fine Gael and Labour wont be able to agree on significant points, the economy is going to get a hell of a lot **** worse with a possible default down the line. Fianna Fail will rise in popularity as Fine Gael are unable to deal with the growing economic hell we are in. There will be outrage at cuts & taxes and an election will be called. Fianna Fail will reclaim their old base and SF will take more seats.

Im going to actually go down and put money on in Paddy Power for another general election in the next 18 months.

I wouldnt hold my breath. Cant see FF getting back into government for at least a generation, if they ever recover at all.
