She's young and inexperienced. Give her time etc.

Extremely naive of her to say there was an ambition of getting 16 seats though. Really big blunder there.

In fairness she's after a long day and this the early hours of the morning!

I'm confused...didn't Ned declare that East Cork was an "O'Keeffe seat" on Vincent Browne a few weeks back?? Did the O'Keeffe seat constituents not listen to Ned's wise words?!? Disgraceful...

Nah she's like that all the time. She rarely does interviews as she's not the best at answering questions.

Agreed long day and it was a tough seat to win

Someone forgot to mention it to her that SF always underplay expectations. The internal party ambition may have been 16 but the only externally talked about ambition was doubling their seats to 8 or 10.

Ok. No harm to have someone elected who speaks the truth.

I would think SF bosses didn't think she would make it, so no need to fill her in on the nitty gritty.

She speaks the truth? Oh dear, why did she run for the Dáil? :D

I would like to say I'm extremely proud of the people of East Cork. No Fianna Fail, and at least two quite intelligent candidates in Sherlock and Stanton (can't say I know much about Barry).

Its unfortunate that the people of Cork city have voted in their drones to re-elect FF gombeen morons - why they couldn't follow the example set by their more informed and progressive rural brethren in Cork East and Cork South-West is unfortunately beyond me.

Its also unfortunate that we decided to put McLellan into the Dail, although even though she is a dummy she wasn't part of the IRA to the best of my knowledge so she isn't quite as scummy as other Shinners. Apparently she was overwhelmingly voted in by the people of Youghal and Cobh, and as we all know down here the people that live in these pariah towns tend to be of low moral stature and little upbringing. ;)

Terrible speaker, was asked a question and she went on about local politics and votes as opposed to the national issue raised. Not looking forward to her for the next 5 years (ahem 18months)

i'd agree with most of that. i really thought the people of the northside would have more sense that the southsiders but it looks like billy kelleher will get a seat. i apologise on their behalf

I thought it was refreshing. She was clearly quite giddy and excited at being elected. Give me that any day over some TDs who remained serious and dour after they had been elected.

As for the FF candidates, I feel some sympathy for Michael Ahern; he was a fairly decent guy. But I'm delighted that Kevin O'Keeffe did not get in.

I loved how Pat Kenny had a dig at Ned earlier; after Ned went on a big rant about what FF had become and Pat's response was something like "And yet you had your son run for them?" :pac:

Also delighted that Sherlock topped the poll.

Its embrassing, we let down the country by electing Billy kelleher and looks like Michael Mcgarth will get in.

So many shinners getting elected. Are people looking to express anger at the overall political party system by doing this or is there a feeling that Gerrys army can actually do something.

Down with FF and all that but I don't think Sinn Fein are the answer.

Sorry now, but am I reading this right.

You are a moderator, and you are declaring here that people of Cobh and Youghal "...tend to be of low moral stature and little upbringing".

If anyone is scummy it is you for making such a discriminating statement against the people of these towns.

You see, this is not the change we are seeking in our country....what a pathetic comment and it mirrors the kind of attitude of the the bigger parties...

We will get no change with FG IMO, but I will stand to be corrected...

Just in case you were not aware of it ORI, all parties stemmed from the IRISH REPUBLICAN ARMY in some shape or form

So don't believe everything you read.....

    Pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!

How many times does it have to be repeated on various threads throughout this forum??? There is a HUGE difference between the IRA of the early 20th century, from which a lot of our political parties originated, and the IRA of the 70s, 80s, etc. which Orizio is referring to and which the modern Sinn Féin party have strong ties to.

Ok, you are being very selective here. My main point is that someone can come on here and create a stereotype of the people of the towns mentioned.

    I rest my case!!

She's about 50, and has been a councillor for 2 terms.

Yet another one who must get approval from party HQ before she speaks?

Well done to East Cork. It's just a pity that the rest of the county voted in 4 Fianna Fail TDs.
