Help with cable install

    Hi,

So yesterday I had UPC install the tv, phone and internet. The internet and phone are working perfectly. My problem is in the fact that i got the HD box. I just had the house rewired and had the Lexcom smart home system installed. Problem is that the lexcom system doesnt transfer HD signals. The box works perfectly but all the HD channels just come up as no signal please check you have the cable plugged in and so on.

I have managed to get the HD working but in kind of a round about way. I have my upc coming into my utility room. This is where the lexcom patch panel is. I also had the electrician run coax from the utility to the attic in case I wanted a dish on the roof. I had an old coax from before going from the sitting room up to the attic so what I did was put a splitter on the end of the first splitter upc installed and split the tv signal. One going to the attic and joined the two coax cables so i now have coax going from the utility to the attic and back down to the sitting room and the other going into the lexcom tv distribution.

I have attached a diagram to show this bescause it might be confusing. The one circled is the change I have made.

The problem is that now the upc signal going to all the other rooms via the lexcom has lost a significent amount of quality. I think it is because im using the worng splitters. The 2 splitters I have are, out of 2.2bB, tap of 6.5dB.

If anyone could help me it would be great.

    Thanks.

have you tried changing the second 6/2 split to a 4/4 split you will take some signal from the hd box tho. or can you use a 3way spit to feed the broadband hd box and smart home system. but you will need to have enough signal coming into the house to do this. as your taking signal from the bband. or what you could do is at first 6/2 split use the 6db side to feed the bband. just make sure you wire a 6/2 split correctly
