Anyone else concerned at the high number of Independents who might get in?

As things stand at the moment it looks like FG will get in excess of 70 seats. Labour should get 40 or so. If they form a coaltion that will leave and opposition in the region of 40 TDs.

If we get 40TDs in opposition it looks like the largest block will be independents. Will that cause issues?

I think it is the best option. A strong government with Labour as a strong and united opposition.

The Independents are a little less motley that the 30th Dail's ones though. Many of them are under the ideological ULA umbrella, and will at least contribute on a national basis (though I can't see them doing anything productive as they won't be willing to compromise). Shane Ross and his no-messing approach is a very welcome addition.
