    Hi there,

I'm looking for some tips on how to best spend a short visit to Bali. We will be there for about 9 days at Easter...I have been warned about Kuta being not particularly nice, and jammed with tourists, so will prob just spend the first night there and hit the road...The ideal would be somewhere fairly chilled, with a few nice places to eat and most importantly a nice beach...We have been told that the Gilli islands are worth visiting, is it feasible to travel there and back without using up to much of our time sitting on boats etc?

    Any tips appreciated!!

    Cheers x

Im heading to Bali as well in June as part of a long trip. From what I've heard, the Gili islands are total paradise and should def be seen. It takes 2 hours on a boat to reach them from Bali.

I plan on spending a good week there relaxing :)

We stayed a few days on Lombongan Island. Totally awesome. Recommended.

I stayed in Ubud, nice and chilled and fairly central. You can rent a driver for the day and they can take you around other parts of the island and if you get a sound driver then they will give you a nice history to the island. Gili islands are very nice but gets boring very quick as there is feck all there to do.
