Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I notice you are using tables quite heavily. It's probably best to move away from these and concentrate on css for formatting.

    A few thoughts.

While the flash elements add a nice subtle touch, I noticed that some of the letters in the banner aren't rendered very well. For example, look at the centre line of the N.

There appears to be a background image. But as it's quite indistinct from the main body of the site, I'm not sure of its purpose. Perhaps a subtle use of imagery or even a different colour would offset the main content nicely.

I don' think that the flash element on the contact forum - specifically the poorly rendered text - really works or is necessary.

Perhaps you could assign space on the main page to each area that Trench specialises in. As it stands, the addition of "Tell tale/ William" and the cinema server ad seem rather arbitrary.

    Good job all the same.

Going from one page to another the top banner jumps badly......is it loading a Flash file over a background image ?

    Doesn't look that professional.

The overall tone of the site is 'the matrix' - is that really the image you want for your business. The message of the site is really unclear, what exactly is Trench, you can't easily understand that. Also, generally lots of bits are unfinished, garish red borders etc...

Overall, it's not terrible, but it falls short of representing you well.

Not knowing what the general consensus is with using Adsense within a business site, I can never reconcile the fact that competitors, or even your own, business appear on the very same page where one is trying to sell a service!

It may be acceptable and there may be a valid reason but hey....does it actually pay you enough to ensure that your potential customers can click off elsewhere from you page?????

I saw 2 competitors on your Lighting Services page, have you looked at controlling what appears?

Full marks to the look and feel, 'tis classy!

Homepage text is you talking about you, so engages poorly. Should be what you can do for your prospective clients.

The Flash is mainly distracting or unecessary.

Basic text in Flash and images.

You need to stop using Flash for text and fancy effect and use only for presentations and animations. Even then you should try to use jQuery wherever possible.

Some text in footer look like links but aren't.

SEO is almost non-existant. URLs are ugly.

Content copied and pasted from MS applications is producing some 'strange' layout markup, probably screwing up some linking and resulting in far too much inline styling.

Contact details in Flash. Unindexable, uncopyable, unlinked and jagged due to bad sizing.

    No postal address.

Thumbnail images not resized properly and oversized anyway with no gallery treatment.

© char entity error in footer despite it being right in the first footer line.

Web Design services - hmmmm that's stretching credibility, sorry but you need to up the game a good bit and stop using so many bad practices.

The handling of YourName@YourCompany.ie on the web design page is kinda funny on one way (unnecessary obfuscation) and not funny in an other way (your using a real company's email domain).

I suppose it is all about the end product really.. but you used Joomla for your site and you are a web design company among other things.. ?
    <meta name="generator" content="Joomla! 1.5 - Open Source Content Management" />

If I was supplying clients with a professionally tailored off the shelf CMS, I would make damn sure my own site is a perfect reflection of my work/capabilities with the CMS in question.

Also, as 99% of clients generally copy and paste from MS Word I would also ensure I have a HTML editor that can strip out that dreaded Mso-Normal CSS class garbage it appends to copy and pasted text.

As previous posters already said, you should avoid Flash as much as possible. Use jQuery in its place, wherever possible.

The search returns an ugly Google formatted page. Although, this is probably down to your restriction of the CMS chosen.
