Musical Places of Interest & Monuments in Dublin?

    Hi Guys!
I am looking for some help here! I am currently doing a college assignment on 'Places of Musical Interest'- and music related monuments too in Dublin City!

So I was wondering if any of you guys knew of any places (things like ' the Phil Lynott statue' & the 'Wall Of Fame' in temple bar!) that would help me??
I have heard of there being a U2 wall down the quays too near the old 'Windmil Studios' but I was wondering if there were any or many more?

As I think everyone can think of something but everyone also notices different things & knows about different things depending on their interests??
So all suggestions are greatly welcomed & thanks for your help! :)

There's a Rock 'n Stroll tour that'd feature these sorts of places, think you can get a booklet with details of the locations in that tourist information centre in that converted church on Suffolk Street.

There is a Handel festival in the city every April with a live free outdoor performance of "The Messiah" on Fishamble St. I was at last years performance and it was great :)

O Donoghue's Merrion Row, the Dubliners and I'm sure many other great bands started there.

The Baggot Inn, should be a plaque there to all the great bands who played there, the Embankment, the Wexford Inn, the Lower Deck, ahh the memories.

Would you like to share any stories or mention any good gigs that you saw at these venues?? In particular, I am looking for either international or homegrown bands that may have played in their early days at these small venues & then went on the be massive! :) all help is really appreciated! :)

Moving Hearts had a residency at the Baggot, saw Christy Moore there a few time, fairly sure I saw Paul Brady there. Wexford Inn was the home of the Furey Brothers and Davy Arthur and would have seen the Dublin City Ramblers and others in the Lower Deck.

There's a U2 video with an elephant and a marching band shot on Upper Mount Street.

National Stadium saw Horslips there a few times, Hearts played there during the Hunger Strike (interesting one that), in fact I think the Stadium was the biggest venue at that time.

The U2 wall is still intact, two in fact. One is at Windmill lane the other at Hannover quay. They also used the east link Bridge for photoshoots and the area with Poolbeg in the background for the cover of "October"

The Chieftains used to play one for their first recorded concerts in St. Catherine's Church.

BonaVox hearing aid store on Talbot Street from which Bono got his name is still there.

Litton Lane Hostel was a former recording studio used by Sinead O'Connor and U2 amongst many others.

Sinead O' Connor worked as a waitress in the Bad Ass cafe.

The wall of Fame in Temple Bar

The Rory Gallagher Corner in Temple Bar including a sculpture of his Guitar.

I think the Phil Lynott Sculpture at Harry street was mentioned.

Fitzwilliam Square was used by U2 to film the Video for "The Sweetest Thing"

Stephens's Green Shopping centre used to be the Dandelion Market where U2 played the first gigs.

The Messiah Premiere was already mentioned. A funny little side note to this event was the "dresscode" for the subsequent concerts of Handel. They told the lady's to leave the underskirts at home and the gentlemen were told to leave the sabre and swords at home so they could allow more people in the Hall to get a seat. It could just be a myth tho.
