What did you hope for?

When you voted what did you hope would be the outcome; regardless of who you voted for?
    • Did you hope for a coalition government of FG-Labour?
    • A majority government of FG or Labour?
    • A coalition involving Fianna Fail?
    • SF/FF/Labour as the main opposition party?
    • A government strongly influenced by independents or minority parties (PBP,Socialists, etc)?

Personally I hoped for either A FG-Labour government and FF opposition, or a majority FG government with Labour opposition.

    (possibility of a poll, mods?)

I know that I don't want FF in at all, ever as they have shown that they are a negative force in terms of the country's best interests.
However, whilst FG haevn't shown themselves to be anywhere near as corrupt as FF, they aren't saints either and I don't trust them.
Lab are too close to the unions and we really do need to do something about the public service.
As for SF, tbh I felt that a lot of what they were saying was unrealistic.
As for indys, I'm not sure that they will be a benefit for the nation (based on the most obvious examples we've had recently)

I really wished for a "None of the above" option yesterday but given the lack of available choice, I guess that I would opt for FG/Lab colaition

My main hope for this election was that FF take a hiding.

It looks like they will based on current infor.

FG to be able to govern without Labour.

My first preference would have been a Fine Gael overall majority followed by Fine Gael/Labour and finally Fine Gael/Independent.

However, my greatest wish was that Fianna Fáil would be sodomised by the Irish electorate without benefit of lubrication. Wish granted.

1st priority of course was that FF took one hell of a beating
2nd That FG needed Labour to form coalition
3rd Improved showing of Labour overall

    So - all good there.
Just a minor glitch, in so far as Callery looks likely to hold his seat here in Mayo. I had hoped for a wipeout. A stronger Labour candidate than Cowley might have delivered ... but at the moment Kilcoyne(ind), Ruane(SF) and Cowley seem to be falling short. No idea how transfers will go. Still.....fingers crossed!
