    Hi folks,

I have a one year old HP laptop with windows 7 operating system. My problems started when trying to view .pdf documents through Internet explorer. Any time I tried to open a .pdf file it would crash internet explorer. I decided to to start using Mozilla firefox then and that was the end of that...no problems at all for many months.

Now my problem is that Mozilla is CONSTANTLY crashing when viewing any old webpage....like gmail....breakingnews etc. I tried re-installing mozilla but it has made no difference. Any idea what the problem could be?

PLEASE don't use tech jargon. It means nothing to me!!

    Thanks in advance...

what does it say when it crashes or does it just go straight back to the desktop?

Don't ask me why I'd do this cuz I don't know myself but delete it again run ccleaner and then re-install it again.

    Different browsers

Just use chrome. It's the best.

The webpages just freeze and says "not responding". I then get task manager to shut it down.

You could well have picked up a virus or malware. Adobe Reader is bad for letting them through. Use Foxit Reader instead.

Scan your machine with up to date virus software and Malware Bytes anti-malware.

    If problems persist:

    1. Read the "I think I have a virus" - Please Read & Try BEFORE Posting (Updated 12/02/2010) sticky in the Virus and Malware forum.

    2. Carry out as many of the instructions in that thread as you can.

    3. Then post the relevant logs or any other relevant info, in a new thread in that forum.

Someone will be along to help but only once you do those tasks.

That happens to me sometimes. What I do is...wait. PDF's can take a while to download and the browser can become non responsive while it is loading at times. The length of time the browser is non responsive will depend on the size of the PDF.

At least that has been my experience.

You can get Adobe to open outside the browser which should fix the issue.

Open adobe go to edit then preferences then click on internet half way down the left hand side then untick the option for display PDF in browser. If this works you are missing a registry setting for adobe so i would uninstall adobe fully and run ccleaner like someone else said then download and install the latest version of adobe.

I have had issues like this before and the above fixed it.

Do a custom install if your gonna give Foxit a go. It gives you more options to block the Add-ons you don't want.
