Time to get serious

Hi, Just looking to get some advice

I graduated with a 2.2 degree in Mechanical Engineering in Nov 2009.

When I finished college I decided (like many others) that I wasn't ready to start working 9-5 and wanted to have some fun, but instead of travelling decided to move out of home to Dublin city and work as a bartender for a year.

Now don't get me wrong it has been great fun, but it's been almost 2 years since I finished college and I havn't really achieved anything. I've recently bumped into a few of my college graduates and they all seem to be doing really well.

    My question is this:

As my degree is a 2.2 and not higher, I feel I'd struggle to find work in my Degree field at the moment in the current market, especially since I havn't done anything related to my degree for 2 years. Thoughts on this?

I plan on starting a masters degree in september full time, which takes a little over a year. As this is full time it will limit me to part time work, which means I'll have to remain in the job I'm currently in for over a year more.

Do you think I am anyway employable currently? And if so, careerwise would it be better to take an entry level job somewhere and start gaining experience, or would I be better off to just get the masters out of the way first and then search the Job market?

    Any info/advice appreciated,

    Thanks.

Read the first reply here, I have a 2.2 in my degree and should have a full time job with it from that FAS WPP scheme in around 6 months.

EDIT: I found a lot of places would over look some college stuff if you had experience in your field of study.
