Pencil on ballot paper

I wonder why we do not use indelible ink on our ballot papers. Pencil can be rubbed out easily. All it takes is a few thousand euro in bribes to get presiding officer, gardai to "forget" about their supervision instructions for a half hour.

Our country is not exactly the epitome of transparency. Every man can be bought - it's just a question of how much.

If you were brideing enough people to "rub out" the pencil marks, then you could just as easily forge new papers and mark who ever you want as number 1
