Sorry if this is the wrong forum, mods feel free to move to anywhere more suitable.

Has anyone used this website yet? I've flights booked for next month that I won't be able to use, going by the pittance I've got back from either of the 2 main Irish airlines I reckon it might be worth giving them a go, but I see they apply a charge. Just wondering what kind of refunds people got back if they've used it?

Personally I'd query how they would be able to get you a refund any better than you would yourself. I can't see any airline waiving whatever processing fee they impose.

I asked this question in a previous thread they were mentioned in.

Would they be able to get around the admin fee and the 30 day limit that some airlines impose? I doubt it.

Their T&Cs are scary, especially the bit about IP rights:
    - you enter a contract and give them Power of Attorney.
    - they get 20% of any refund (no foal no fee basis)
    - you give them full exclusive royalty-free intellectual property rights to any information you send them. They can do what they like with it, including publish & distribute it. They can sub-licence any info you give to anyone else.

TBH - I can't see how they get a more favourable refund from the airlines that you would get yourself. I think they just capitalise on people's unwillingness to deal with the airlines directly.

Thanks for the feedback, along the lines of what I was thinking re the amount they could get back for me. I suppose their selling point is taking the hassle out of looking for it alright. The flight I can't use wasn't madly expensive anyway, so I might try them out to check user friendliness and refund amount out of interest. I'll be sure to be careful with what info I provide them though!!

I applied for a refund through airtaxrefund.com almost three months ago, and am still waiting!!! Phoned them recently to enquire about the delay and was told they'd get back to me, and they haven't.

I'm wondering whether they've actually generated any refunds for anybody - would be interested to hear of any other experiences with them.

    Hi everyone,

My name is Daragh, I work at Airtaxrefund. I just wanted to clear up a few things being discussed here. Regarding the worry over our use of client information when making a claim with us. We use that info to process a refund application only, and nothing else. The text taken from our terms and conditions regarding Intellectual Property rights actually concerns our copyright over the system we developed to process claims, and has nothing to do with taking liberties with our clients' personal information. Client information is strictly confidential, and we do not engage in any data-selling or marketing of the information given in an application.

Secondly, regarding our service. We have processed over fifty refunds for our clients since beginning in January, and while we do charge a fee for doing so, we feel this is appropriate given our offering of taking the hassle out of claiming a refund. Airlines make it purposely difficult to get money passengers are entitled to back from them, and our customers find that it often isn't worth the laborious effort. An email to us, on the other hand, is quick and effortless.

Airtaxrefund.com take no liberties with client information, nor have any of our customers ever questioned our integrity when handling their information, principally because their has never been an issue regarding our integrity. We treat our customers and their information with utmost care and respect, as we are aware of and fully appreciate the trust they put in us to claim their taxes back.

If anyone has any specific questions regarding our service, feel free to send me an email either through boards or to daragh@airtaxrefund.com (you're probably better off with the latter).

    Thanks,

    Daragh

I have a friend who got a refund from those guys. It did take a while as the airline was slow to process the application, but he did receive money back on his credit card.

Their communication skills are definetly lacking, i've contacted them months ago to chase a refund from AL only to be contacted last month looking for further info and a credit card payment in advance, i've since contacted them to find out where we were with the claim, no reply!

Anyone had recent dealings with them ?

This is a 2 year old thead which you have dug up. You probably would be better off dealing with Aer Lingus direcrtly than with a 3rd party they cant do any better than you can do yourself. Good luck with it all
