OK couple of queries on the Tacho requirements........getting ready for my lesson's.........

    1. You are required to produce a record for your previous 28 days, if requested. So, starting out, er.........how can you have a record of 28 day's before that.......... ???

    2. The written record you must produce.......in what form ? Do I manually fill out a bunch of tacho sheet's......to show I wasn't using them ??

    3. See attached tacho sheet (reverse side). Can someone run through the items I've labelled...........it's a Veeder Root, btw.....

    TIA as they say !

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I don't know of many companies that still use the old type of tacho. The EU has made it mandatory for all trucks to have digital Tacho readers.

If you still need to know I'd wait for Donkey Balls to answer your question.

i had a read through this link, its from england but they seem to be the same as us with tacho rules,
edit: you will have to google tachomaster.net analogue, i cant make a link to it but it does answer some of your questions, its the first result in google,

it seems the first section is your own name, the no. is the reg number of the vehicle, the cab with the arrows is start destination and finish destination, that seems to repeat 3 times, im not sure why tbh,
the km is the distance on the odometer at the start and finish of the day, there should also be a start date and finish date on it,
the bunch of numbers with the "e" is to make sure the disc is compatible with the analogue equiptment,

they switched to digital in 2006, i dont think trucks registered before this need to switch to digital:confused:
im not sure about holding records if your not driving full time,

i hope this helps! i am open to correction on the above,

plenty of info in the forums here:http://www.roadtransport.com/drivers/

    Hows things Galwayytt,

First of all your going be a leaner driver which excempts you from using either an analogue chart or the Digi card while under instruction. linky= http://www.rsa.ie/Documents/Tachograph_Enf/Tachograph_Declaration_form.pdf
As for the pic of the analogue chart that is the back of it for additional entries if using more than one truck in the driving period that day,At present a driver is required to have on him/her the current weeks charts plus 28 days previous charts.
If your using a digi card it must be downloaded by your employer every 21 days there is also a form of attestation if you have been out sick or just starting to work for a new employer,(which the RSA/Gardai should cop as your licence will prove that you only passed the test recently) if you have any more questions feel free to ask I'm working nights at present so it could be a day or so before getting back to yeah.

Thanks - but I'm not driving for a living - so what's that about downloading the card - do I download it to my own laptop at home instead ??

As a leaner driver you will NOT be required to use your digi card untill you pass the C test and actually drive on public roads,As for down loading there is equipment you can purchase that reads the card mainly guys who have there own trucks would use them.
