Not sure if it would fit but did you over fill the Engine with Oil?

nope .normal driving home little loss of power, squeel from turbo then blue smoke (lots) turned off key . engine ran high (with key off) had to stall car in gear standing on brake . got a tow home . only just got to look around and under engine no trace of oil leek . havent tried running it or wont till i make sure no oil has filled cylinders .
if a smaller engine fits cool. im thinking of just down grading to a smaller run around.

Without trying to sound like a knob, the fact that you don't know yourself means the DIY forum isn't probably the best place for your thread. The simple answer is no. You would end up hauling out nearly every wire, ecu, sensor and having to do some serious electronics work to get the new engine to work.

    ^^^^^^^What he said.
I misread, I thought you were just talking about a1.9hdi turbo fitting in a 2.2hdi.

Sorry to hear what happened here OP. On the face of it, it looks like a seal went in the turbo and filled the intake with oil, and this is what the engine ran on until you intervened to stop it. You might be lucky and get away with cleaning out the intake and sticking a new turbo on it. If she's ok thereafter, flog it for something smaller. Unfortunately, grafting in a different engine is not a practical option.
