    Lads.
I want to get some subsonic 22lr ammo for rabbit shooting.
What brand do you find the best for accuracy and stopping power ?
My rifle is a CZ453 varmit.

Eley subsonic were most accurate when I had my .22, though there seemed to be a fair enough split between them and Winchester subs between shooters. I didn't use the Winnies myself as I didn't find them as accurate through my rifle, but people did say they had more stopping power than the Eleys.

CZ Style and now the Varmint = Eley green box subs and Laupa/SK gold box subs, easy 1/2" at 50m.:)

i like the eleys aswell but they can be hard to get at times, not a big fan of remingtons as nearly every box of them i got had a dud round or 2 in them and had the odd flyer aswell, using cci's at the moment but havent used them enough to comment on them, seem a lot better than the stingers through my rifle anyway

I have a .22lr cz style and I find Winchester subs hard to beat. I was getting a brick of them for €45 but they have gone up to €60 last I checked. Still cheap at €6 a box or 12cent a shot.

Winchester are best for stopping power, Eley are very accurate, Remington are awful, currently have RWS but haven't tried 'em on bunnies yet.

I find lapua the best. One shot kill on a pigeon at 150yards last week. No flapping or anything just one shot and dead pigeon.

I was using winchester subsonic all last year but could not shoot a consistant group, last week i brought the rifle to a friend of mine and exlained what was happening, he shot 5 rounds of winchester and the grouping was awful, without even adjusting the scope shot another group of 5 using lapua subsonic, bang on target almost a hole in a hole at 75 yards, i couldnt believe it, he explained to me that some of the cz rifles are bored differently and that explains why my grouping was so off, maybe you should buy a box of each brand and see what shoots the best group. lapua are made in germany and like everything else made in germany they insist on precision.

Thanks lads. I will try a box of lapua, eley. and winchester to see which groups best. A dealer near me has RWS also so I might try them as well.

Its been said already but every rifle will have its own preference. My savage luvs RWS & Lapua. Eleys & Remington were a no go.

Well lads I tried a few bullets out today on targets at 50 yards.
I had winchester, lapua, and rws, all subsonic.
It was quite breezey but I shot some good groups.
The rws were the most accurate followed by the lapua then the winchester.
All bullets were accurate enough to go hunting with but I shot a couple of 5 shot groups with the rws that measured 1/4 inch centre to centre.
Must try them out on a few rabbits now.
