hi hope some one can help
its a sealed system has two room stats 1 in bed room and 1 in hall, each working there own motorized valve , but the time clock is only a single channel so it heats everywhere unless i turn off the stats. iv been lookin into it and i will have to run a new switch wire for each zone, no prob.
its the HW zone that im not sure of ,i think il have to put a cylinder stat on and wire that to the time clock , but there is a stat on the cylinder its not wired but the type on the pipe (like a rad valve) . will i have to get rid of that

hope im clear enough on that any help would be great

I think what your talking about is a thermostatic cylinder valve (tcv) , you will have to remove this and fit a motorised valve in it's place with a cylinder stat attached to the cylinder

yes thats it alright ,to save me having to drain the system could i put a cylinder stat on and wire it to time clock and set it to the same temp as the (TCV)or a bit lower ,

Seltron ST2 Programmable room stats wil solve your problem. They are supplied in Ireland by E-Z Heating Solutions in Ballymount.

You would still need some means of isolation. If you only put a stat wired to the clock, when your heating only is on it would still circulate through the cylinder when not required.

thanks john and sull so you reckon motorised valve in place of the tcv and a cylinder stat for hot water only

Yep. Try and incorporate the boiler interlock on the hot water zone (orange and Gray cable on the zone valve) by the sounds of it with the existing system the stats power the zone valves but dont turn the boiler off. I take it your electrically minded.

had a look up in the hotpress at the elec connection ,grey and orange connections not used on both mv. so boiler gets power all the time even if stats are turned down .so if im right as the grey and orange is a normally open switch (orange common) i would have to bring a seperate perm live to the orange, and grey goes to the boiler live.Turn on time clock, power goes to stat, stat gives power to mv and then closes no switch bringing power to boiler
Or could i just loop the orange with the brown on the mv and no need to run the seperate perm live (might be to much of a load for the stat to switch on it own?)

    thanks again

O.K. Permenant live to the boiler and time clock. The 3 zones on the time clock will each have a live switch. up, down and hot water. each zone when called for would send a live signal to the representing thermostat. From there the stat sends the power to the brown on the zone valve and depending on the boiler the grey also. When the motor opens the valve an activates the micro switch the orange becomes live, the orange is wired into TA1 on the boiler and fires the boiler. Care must be taken to know the switching voltage on the boiler (high or low voltage). If low voltage then the grey and the orange must be wired back to TA1.
