My son's 64gb itouch has died, his grandad got it for him last Christmas so is out of warranty. We have tried the fixes but to no avail, when we plug in to charge it gets really HOT instantly. So I reckon it's past the point of us being able to sort it..... So basically my question is, what do we do now ? I guess if we were in the UK we would go to an apple genius but in the republic of Ireland ? Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks :)

Could be a battery issue, plenty of experts in this country.
Is it a gen 2 or 3 do you know?
    How to tell

Not sure what model iPod you have?
1st Generation - Has no volume buttons on the side
2nd Generation - Model number on reverse is A1288
3rd Generation - Model number on reverse is A1318
4th Generation - Has a front and rear camera
where abouts does it get hot?
is it the lower left corner or the whole back of the device?

    Hi Cathal,
It's a 3rd generation one and yeah, it's just the lower corner that is getting hot.
    Hope it's not a goner !!!
