What should I look for if I am selling a 2000 Honda Accord 2L Vtec automatic with 110K miles. Full service history, leather seats In pretty good nick with a full Honda service history? Scrappage or would I get more?

Scrappage for a new car or Scrap Value?

There are some really good deals on the scrappage scheme. Saves allot of hassle too.

Should get over €1500 for it if it's tested. If you scrapped it under the scrappage scheme what you drive home in will more than likely be no way near as good a car as you left home in ;)

    Should fetch around €1800 privately.

BTW Baby Jesus cries everytime a perfectly good car is scrapped that doesn't actually need to be.

I had the same problem but my car isn't great. Has nearly 2 years NCT but prob would get around 1000 for it.
Tax on my 2L Dsl 600+
    Tax on new car 104

Buy the new car and spend 2-3 years tax savings on extras

Savings on cheaper motor tax is tiny compared to the purchase price of a new car and annual depreciation.

I cannnot understand people spending 15k on a car to say 400 euros a year. You end up with a car that has not got the power of two hens farting!!!!

This is right, beware of new common rail diesel cars esp. those fitted with DPF. They have faulty DPF design, and basically manufactures are doing field testing on your expense.
DPF is a consumable part and not covered under warranty.
It will cost you around 2k to replace. Those cars designed to drive on motorway only if you use it around city you are looking for trouble.
I give you a couple links and the rest you can google yourself.

The low road tax for them is a free cheese in a mousetrap. The gov fools you around as usual:D
