Clamped but no yellow lines

I've been parking outside my apartment block for 2 years with no problems (there are no yellow lines) but was clamped this morning.
The reason i was given was that if there is an unbroken white line in the middle of the road that you cannot park there whether there are yellow lines there or not. has anyone ever heard of this because i certainly haven't?

btw it was dublin city council and not private clampers.

It's part of the rules of the road...
Parking a vehicle where it is prohibited e.g. double yellow lines; no parking sign; cycle track; within 5m of a road junction; where there's a continuous white line; taxi only stands; obstructing emergency service stations; obstructing a driveway; within 15m of pedestrian crossing or traffic lights is an offence

technically you'd rarely find double yellow lines opposite or running along a continous white line as it is illegal to park opposite a continous white line. unfortunately i've rarely seen this enforced. they must be looking for money to pay the O.T. for the clean up after the election.

You may need to brush up on the Rules of the Road - Pages 116 and 117 outline all the requisite information.

Kdowling, you must be the unluckiest K in the city.

I`d challenge it to the doors of the Supreme Court, but first...

Grab yourself a camera and ramble along to Ranelagh Village any evenin, especially weekends, where you`ll find lads fightin with each other to park in some of the most anti-social illegal spots imaginable on BOTH sides of the Road, opposite a big long stretch of solid white line,at a Bus Stop, and well within 5 metrers of a junction etc etc......

Your defence can be based upon the complete and absolute refusal of DCC,DSPS and more importantly An Garda Siochana to even expres mild curiosity about the entire performance.

Take plenty of snaps, give em to your brief or bombard the City Council with them until they give you a reason for whacking YOU whilst blind-eying the Ranelagh Gentry....;)

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

Good luck. Reminds me of people double parking on blind corners in Cork city without consequence while a few hundred metres down the road, a council clamper waits patiently next to a car with 5 minutes left on the disc.

Isn't that because they are not allowed clamp where cars are causing an obstruction?

It is the same with bus stops although I would prefer to have my stops blocked by clamped cars than the unclamped ones that are already there as at least I know the ignorant fukkers will be penalised.
