What to do for the afters for a small wedding?

We're thinking of having a wedding with about 30 guests. But what do you do after the meal in this situation? We can't have a DJ for just 30 people. Also I'm concerned that if we pick a restaurant venue (it's a civil ceremony), we won't be able to stay that late. I don't think the wedding reception would be much fun if it's over at 9pm! Any ideas?

Where is everyone staying? If everyone is staying at a hotel, a small band doing covers may get the party started? What town will it be held in? Some people may know of somewhere nearby to goto...

Have a DJ if you want one, does not matter if there is only 30 at wedding.
Or you could always do an ipod etc.. for music.
I know our band said they had played at a wedding of about 30.

I think you can do pretty much whatever you want. May not make financial sense but its your wedding.

Not very conventional but we booked a private section in a niteclub. We only had a small number of guests and wanted to ensure a good atmosphere so it suited us.

Most places you can book some sort of "events room" next to a Disco. Start there, and filter into the nightclub then.

You could have the meal in a hotel with nice restaurant where they have a residents bar. My brother did a similar thing for his wedding. It was lovely. Since it was so small, we didn't really miss music or that. Everyone was in good form mixing and chatting together.

It'll be in Dublin and I don't know where people would be staying - haven't gotten that far yet. I'd be quite happy with hooking up my laptop to some speakers for music, but I'm not sure how that would go down. Definetly not interested in a night club. I'd rather have a seperate function room or something than end up mingling with other crowds.

Alot of hotels may have a small meeting room you could use and maybe able to offer you table service for drinks.

If not try a restaurant with a license and see how late they will let you stay...all you can do is ask!

I think you should definitely think about a dj, I was at a few small weddings where there was no music after the meal & things went very flat, very fast after the food was finished. I'm having a tiny wedding in Sept & booking a dj, I know its pricey but at least you can get up & dance

At a wedding I was guest at there was ana coustic band for the very end, now my husbands band played the night but in the residents bar Distraction Acoustic played for about 40 people. I have to say it was absolutely brilliant, it was very intimate and there was a great old sing along. I had photographed the wedding so really didnt enjoy the night part as much a others as I was so knackered from working all day but this part was definitely the highlight of the night for me. The lads are from Blessington, if you want some contact details pm me.
