This website just launched today to eager anticipation. I had been following its developement a little in the past few months and today it had gone live.

Basically you can very quickly check pricing up on items for irish stores etc, its pretty nifty expecially for pc and electronics

Thought I'd share, for example bought the NAS Dlink thing that was posted here, checked on toprice, realised I got a bargain

Looks like it has the potential to be a cool site, but still a bit glitchy.

Desire Protective Case for HTC Desire Black Protective Film at the knockdown price range of €419.99 to €450.88. :)

Meh froogle.co.uk does me, Uk prices tend to be that wee bit lower postage inclusive.

The idea is good but it's let down by content.

I just searched for a few XBox 360 games and the prices it comesback with are high - it only seems to be searching select sites.

They do not seems to search the obvious big hitters like Amazon or maybe I'm missing something.

Don't get me wrong, it has potential, but needs a much wider crawl to pull in more sites and prices.

There is no chance it can please everyone, Amazon is certainly a good idea.
Prices are high but they are the Irish prices and there is clearly a need for such a service.

Content is based on product feeds provided by the shops not crawl (imagine crawling Amazon it would take days).

Hope we will add more shops soon to give a better picture and search experience.

Don't mind bad comments they are to help to improve what's not right.
You simply can't build site like this overnight:)

If you're basing it on product feeds you could get you current product database and hit sites like Amazon, thehut, play etc... for the same objects to get comparison prices

Amazon query is pretty straightforward :
www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-
keywords=DJ+Hero+360&x=0&y=0

In the above I searched for "DJ Hero 360" which I've highlighted in bold, so it's easy top substitute anything you want, you could just parse the results to get the price

I don't think it is that easy. First of all product feed needs to be in certain format with pricing in Euro (none of the shops you mentioned offers it), with product categories matching TOPrice and so on.

Just had a look at netbooks and the everything so on the first page has one price and thats it.

Not much comparison there

Good site for compact cameras.

However it does not have Argos which was cheaper, however a good starting point.

Best of luck with the web site.

Why is the site called toprice but your account is topprice? Sticking to one name would look better to potential suppliers and customers.

Amazon provide an AWS api to query for that data directly. Just hit A2S. I haven't used it since it used to be called ECS but it was able to return reviews, pricing, picture, etc...

I did have a look on it but have to investigate further, working on Peats this week and few other shops.

True, we have nothing in common, thanks for shout out, I guess it was due to the article that showed up on Siliconrepublic.

TOPpriceIE, if you wish to interact on a commercial basis then you must contact hello@boards.ie and arrange a commercial interaction account. It is necessary for Boards to confirm your identity and status before you can represent a business here.

jor_el,

I popped a PM to TOPpriceIE explaining this alright.

And he / she has done so. It's in the hands of "the powers that be now"! ;)

Did a search on this forLED tvs - thought I had found a great price until I went to the checkout and they added 132 quid for VAT!!!

Really annoys me when comparison sites don't actually show the actual prices - just wastes your time

There is no way that this could happened all prices on the site are inc Vat
Can you please PM the link to the product and I will have a look on it.
Thank you kindly

Original poster said he's been following this for a few months, hardly overnight ;)

Check out skinflint.co.uk, its mainly for techie stuff but it 'crawls' through everything. Has ratings for the sellers, feedback, etc, quite a nice model.

You were right, I found the shop who changed their prices to ex VAT, all products from this shops are gone now.

My apology.

There is plenty of sites like this in UK and other countries, you can simply get product feed from hundreds of shops instantly, in Ireland shops often don't know what product feed is or there is other quite long list of problems that they have. That's why you can't give an example of similar service in Ireland.
