I lost my job at the beginning of the year, so odviously money is tight. Problem is I'm in need of make up (foundation, eye liner etc)

Just wondering does anyone have any budget suggestions? I was using benefit some kind of gorgous as a foundation and I love it but it's so expensive :(

Hi dammitjanet - sorry to about your job. I suffered the same fate last year and also had to find more price appropriate beauty products!!

I find that the Lacura makeup range at Aldi is really good... I use the concealor (approx €4.50) and the powder(around €3.00) and they're brilliant. I've heard that the foundation is really good but I havent used it yet nor have I tried their eyeshadows or lippys. However I did try the mascara but found its not great - very runny and it has this funny smell that just puts me off:( Makes me think of dandillions blughhhh:confused:
So for mascara I use L'oreal or maybelline... as its going on (in) your eyes I say use something good... you cant replace your eyes!!!:D Oh and rimmel, bourjois and maybelline for eyeliners!! Bourjois is fantastic for eyeshadows but not as cheap as rimmel - however they are apparently a sister company of chanel !! L'oreal are another not as cheap but not as expensive makeup range that is great - especially for mascaras!!
I also second ELF but you need a creditcard to use them - their studio range is particulary fantastic. I use elf for blusher, eyeshadows and their great. And if you join them on FACEBOOK they give codes for free delivery and free gifts every so often when they reach so many followers!!

OHHHH and beaut.ie have also being heralding about ESSENCE. This is available in Dunnes and is really cheap but apparently their products are very very good - haven't used them myself though!
Also, I find that Superdrug and Boots can be handy for their offers such as 3for2. But also check out Dunnes and Tesco's Barbara Daly range which also gets good reviews!!

Phew- I think thats probably enough for you!! Hope it helps and best of luck with both the make-up and the job situation:)

I'm thirding elf. Just bought a little stash with some money left on my 3v and I got a good amount! :) It's in the recently purchased thread if you want to take a look! :)

I use lidl moisturizer Iseree it's called. It goes on lovely on the skin doesn't make my skin tight or anything.

Borjouis foundation, eyeshadows, mascara and eyeliner are nice and still on the cheap side. About €13 ish for a foundation, about €8 for a eyeshadow, €11 for mascara and about €9 for eyeliner. :)

Im 15 so i have a pocketmoney budget! Firstly if you dont have a boots asvantage card, get one! Theyre great value. Heres my reccommendations:
Mascara: maybelline ones are good. Try the falsies. I also like the bourjois ones, ultra glamour i think.
Concealer: definitely the aldi lacura one. Its a YSL touche eclat dupe. Really brightens up skin and hides dark circles.
Eyeliner: maybelline have a new gel one out. I just got it and right now theres 2euro off it in boots so its 8e. It also comes with a brush.

17 lipglosses are nice, barry m nail varnishes too. Natural collection pressed powder is decent. Penneys and no7 blush are what i use.

Finally check out drugstore.com. They have all the maybelline and rimmel and lots more for half the price in boots!

    Try out www.everydayminerals.com
I use their mineral foundation - fabulous stuff, good coverage but really natural. It comes in dozens of shades and they'll send you free samples to choose from. Their blush and eye colours are also great if you're ok with loose powders. Very affordable and they last for ages. I love their stuff!

Essence foundation is brilliant and only about €4. Their eyeliners are pretty good too.
I usually use Maybelline mascara, but bought one called "9 1/2 weeks" in Penneys last week for 50 cent and it's not too bad at all. Penneys primer is brilliant as well for €3.50
Boots natural collection lip glosses are really good too.
I use No 7 blusher, which is about €13, but it's a cream stick and last ages, literally months. Boots often have a €7.50 voucher too. I don't think I've ever paid full price for it.

Ask for samples if you are passing chemists or beauty counters. I also see a lot of chemists have brands such as lancome etc reduced. There is usually a box of what is probably the last few of a particular line.

Honey, oats, milk etc can be used for face masks. Maybe someone else would know more about this.

Foundation wise, I think Maybelline is very good. Revlon Colorstay is also amazing, its about €16 I think.

In terms of everything else, have a look at Natural Collection in Boots, they're surprisingly very good. The mascaras, powders and blushes are great. Lipglosses are a bit sticky.

Boots have loads of 3 for 2 offers on certain cosmetics ranges at the moment (Bourjois, Maybelline, Rimmel, L'oreal etc) so it's worth going in for a look and possibly stocking up :)
Saves you a good bit of money, considering you're getting one item free.

I really like rimmels 25 hour foundation! Its about €8

I usually use double wear by este lauder or studio fix by mac but starting to prefer this one.
Not as thick, or dry as the other two, lasts all day and is so cheap

    :)

The Lacura Concealor is an absolute god sent to me, it hides everything and isn't heavy on the face, blends in really well to hide dark under eyes or the odd blemish.

The power is on par with some expensive ones I have, and one of the foundations I have is acutally better than a No.7 one I have!! Mascara as said is quite sh*** but the eye shadows are ok if they have a colour you like. The clear lipgloss is good too.

It was just by chance I started thinking "feck it for the money I'll try this" and then eventually started testing out one more of the Lacura range at a time. I have sensitive skin too and I have absolutely no reaction to it, where as most things would bring up my face in wee bumps everywhere! The esscense range in Dunnes (did I spell that right??) I got the brow pencil and some eye liners from them and they are very good, but the liquid pen liner like a marker is rubbish, very good for the first like 3 times but just packed it in then!

The MUA range from Superdrug is brilliant, everything is €1.25 and my fave are the eyeshadows, some gorgeous ones :) I was going through my stash yesterday and have about 10 of them hehe

I'd recommend Revlon's photoready foundation but as the other posters said, keep an eye out for the Boots 3 for 2 offers, or any time there's money off a certain range.

Essence and Catrice have some brilliant products and really are fantastic value. There are most definitely bargains to be had out there, just keep an eye out :) Essence is in a lot of pharmacys, Penneys and Dunnes too, along with Catrice. Speaking of Penneys, at the end of last year, I came across a foundation from Penneys, it's in a tube with a brush on the end and was €4.50 and it is honestly one of my favourite foundations, so much so that I'm nearly at the end of my tube and must investigate to see if they still have them :)

Keep us posted if you find any bargains !

another +1 for everydayminerals for their foundations.

Rimmel is very good too for their concealers & powders.

I find beauty counters atrocious for giving samples, especially foundation.
Its completely different a makeup artist applying a foundation for you in the shop and you applying it yourself at home. Foundations are so darn expensive that you want to be positive before you buy it. I find Estee Lauder and Mac are great at giving samples. Smashbox never give out samples, and so I never buy anything from them.
